Better There Socials: Because Sharing Your Message Shouldn’t Make You Miserable

I never planned to start a social media business.

In fact, there was a time I thought I'd never

touch social media again.

But over the years, God kept weaving it back into my life — not as a place of pressure, but as a place of purpose. He took something that once stirred up insecurity, comparison, and distraction, and began to turn it into an opportunity for connection, creativity, and calling.

In my 20s, I used social media for all the wrong reasons. It was a tool for self-promotion and validation. And it hurt. God, in His kindness, started showing me how unhealthy it was for me, and eventually I stepped away altogether.

Then, when I went to my first writers conference and heard the word platform on repeat, I felt a deep resistance accompanied by terror. “God,” I prayed, “Do I have to go back? Can’t I just write a good book and let someone else sell it?”

It wasn’t until a mentor asked me a question that changed everything:

“What if instead of growing a platform… you focused on building an altar?”

That stopped me in my tracks.

What if social media could be something holy?

What if I used it not to impress, but to worship?

What if I let it become a space where I brought my insecurities, doubts, and dreams before God — and asked Him to use it for His glory, not mine?

That’s when everything shifted. I started posting again, but with purpose. I prayed over my captions. I let every gross feeling come to the surface — comparison, jealousy, frustration — and then I gave it to God. And something amazing happened: I didn’t just grow a presence. I grew in faith.

Since then, God has continued to place opportunities in front of me to work in social media — more than I ever expected. I started managing accounts, answered questions for friends, and eventually became the Social Media Director for Inspire Christian Writers. Most recently, I’ve had the privilege of managing Barb Roose’s Instagram — and she’s the one who lovingly pushed me to make this official. (Love you Barb!)

So here we are:

Better There Social Media — a space where I help Christian creatives show up online with strategy, heart, and a whole lot of grace.

This isn’t just about gaining followers (though I can help you with that).

It’s about making space for your message.

It's about showing up without burning out.

It's about letting your online presence reflect the peace and purpose of your offline walk with God.

Whether you’re an author, a speaker, a coach, or a small biz owner — if you love Jesus and feel a little stuck, lost, or discouraged about social media, I’d love to help. I offer coaching, branding, content planning, and even full account management if you’re just plain tired and need someone to step in.

More than anything, I want you to know:

You’re not alone.

You’re not behind.

And the process doesn’t have to make you cringe.

Let’s make it better there — together.

If this resonated with you or you’re interested in working together, I’d love to hear from you!

Send me an email at janelleroselli@betterthere.com — whether you have a question, a dream you're working on, or just need someone to cheer you on as you navigate this space.

Let’s talk about how I can support you.

With joy,

Janelle
